Built In Ovens ... some terms explained.
Built In : The appliance is built "up" into a housing instead of beneath a worktop - for example an eye level oven. These appliances always fit into a cabinet (housing).
Built Under: The appliance is positioned under a worktop. (normally into a housing)
Conventional Oven: An electric oven that heats using concealed electric elements (normally in the floor of the oven). These ovens will often take a considerable time to reach full cooking temperature, and it is advisable to "pre-heat" them. Often the cheap end of the market with few features, they are becoming less and less popular as time marches on.
Fan Assisted Oven: As the conventional oven above, but with the addition of an interior fan to stir the heat up. An improvement on the conventional oven - but do not confuse them with proper fan ovens as they still have protracted heating times.
Circa Fan Oven: This type of oven features an interior fan with a heating element wrapped around it, and works by blowing hot air into and around the oven cavity (think of it as being similar in operation to a hairdryer). By far the most popular type available at present.
Multi Function Oven: Generally a combination of conventional and fan ovens, providing the facility to use convention heating, or fan heating, or combinations of both. If you can afford one these are the way to go (but they won't make Fish Fingers taste any better)
Steam Oven: Small water resovoirs (external from the cavity) feed into a heating element producing steam into the oven cavity - these ovens often cook far more quickly with little or no pre-heating required
Self Cleaning Liners: Also known as Catalytic Liners are positioned in the oven cavity and attract cooking splashes - protecting the side wall of the cavity from a build up of grease. Discolouration is normal, however it is recomended that liners are changed every year.
Pyrolytic Oven Cleaning: Never clean your oven again, simple turn on the cleaning cycle, the oven heats to 500 degress for a short period, the grease and residual particals are burnt away, open the oven door and brush out some dust - neat eh!
Double / Triple Glazed Oven Door: Keep the heat inside the cavity, but also keep the exterior glass door cool - obviously triple is better at it than double.
Housing: A cabinet that the oven fits into - providing a different combination of cupboards and drawers depending on the height of the appliance and housing
