Who am I going to buy my Fitted Kitchen from? ...

You have a number of choices here:

  1. Buy it all from one kitchen supplier (who will also install it)
  2. Buy it all from one kitchen supplier and arrange the installation yourself
  3. Source the items individually and arrange the installation yourself

1. Single Kitchen Supplier / Installer

Advantages

a). You are handing over the "total responsibility" for the project, so if they mess up you don't pay!
b). You are likely to receive a more individually tailored and bespoke service
c). The kitchen installation will be project managed for you

Disadvantages

a). You will pay a premium for the service, and this will be the most expensive option

2. Separate Kitchen Supplier / Installer

Advantages

a). The supplier will still prepare the plans / specification together with useful help and advice
b). Sourcing you own kitchen fitter is likely to cost less

Disadvantages

a). You are now responsible for the accuracy of the kitchen measurements
b). You are now responsible for the plans' "feasibility"
c). You have to manage, and coordinate, the installation and kitchen fitters

3. Source all items / Source Installer

Advantages

a). You have complete control over the choice of products (without bias from individual suppliers)
b). Shopping around for all products and services will provide opportunities to save money

Disadvantages

a). You are responsible for the whole project, and any unexpected mistakes resulting from incorrect measuring or planning
b). You are responsible for coordinating the supply, delivery and installation of all products (a task not to be underestimated)
c). You will have little recourse for action should things go wrong

Conclusion ...

There is no right or wrong way - you must decide to buy your new fitted kitchen the way you feel most comfortable with.

However, we suggest you are conscious of your limitations in these matters, and don't take on matters you have no experience with ... this can be a costly mistake!
