Kitchen Buying Tips
Buying Fitted Kitchens is not something you do regularly, so you may find these fitted kitchen buying tips useful:
Kitchen Buying Tip 1. Try not to rush into it ... buying a fitted kitchen is a major expense, and will inevitably cost more than you hoped!
If you have friends, relatives, or work colleagues who have recently purchased a fitted kitchen ask them about their own experience, and if they might have done things differently ... with hindsight!
Kitchen Buying Tip 2. You will need to prepare (and then try sticking too) a sensible budget for the whole project - you may find these fitted kitchen calculators [ Kitchen Cost Calculator ] [ Kitchen Fitting Estimator ]. helpful to achieve this.
Kitchen Buying Tip 3. When choosing your supplier's it's worth carrying out a little research ... How long have they been trading?, Have they a local presence?, Will they "Project Manage" your order?, Do they have all necessary accreditations? (Public Liability Insurance, Gas Safe Certificate, Part P Certificate, etc), Are they members of any Associations [ KBSA ] [Trustmark ] etc?.
Kitchen Buying Tip 4. Before handing over your hard earned money are there "safeguards" in place to insure your deposit, balance payment, and final payment (should things go wrong).
Kitchen Buying Tip 5. It really is worth checking, and then checking again, you are going to receive exactly what you are expecting before your order is placed
- Kitchen ... Cabinet Range, Door Colour/Type, Matching End Panels, Handles, Lights, Waste Bin, Cutlery Tray, Accessories
- Worktop ... Type, Colour, Thickness, Upstands, Splashbacks
- Appliances ... Model Numbers, Colour, Power Ratings, Features
- Fitting Specification ... Just what is (and what isn't) going to be carried out, and is your current electrical configuration compliant with [ Part P ]
- Miscellaneous ... Who is going to clear the rubbish from site (both old kitchen/appliances/rubble and new packaging/offcuts etc), and will this be carried out using licensed waste disposal (particularly refrigerated devices)
Kitchen Buying Tip 6. It really pays to ask for and check references from previous customers. (Did things go well?, and if not, where any problems dealt with quickly and with good communication?)
Kitchen Buying Tip 7. Ask yourself... Do I trust these people to do what they say, and to the standard I am expecting? - if you do, then go ahead and buy with confidence!
